Priscilla and Max Olson

Priscilla and Max Olson of Anchorage celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Benihana restaurant in October. Hosts were their daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Kevin McDonald of Anchorage, and son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Shawnie of Homer. The Olsons have five grandchildren.

Priscilla and Max were married Oct. 5, 1957, in Bellevue, Wash. They met while attending Portland State College. They married two years later and moved to Bellevue, where their children were born. Shortly after the 1964 earthquake, they moved to Anchorage, where Max joined the office of Crum and Forrester as an insurance adjuster, and Priscilla began working at Anchorage Telephone Utility.

In 1971, the Olsons moved to Palmer, where Max joined Pippel Insurance Agency and Priscilla worked for Matanuska Telephone Association. During their 30 years in Palmer, Max served four terms on the school board. Priscilla worked with the 55 Alive Driver Safety Program, and both belonged to various service organizations.

After retirement, the Olsons moved back to Anchorage. They enjoy time with family, volunteering, gardening and entertaining their dog, Char.

Amber Wade and Joseph Wolf

Amber Wade of Shreveport, La., and Joseph Wolf of Eagle River, will marry Jan. 5 at Jewel Lake Parish.

Amber is the daughter of Robin Wade and Samuel Wade. She attends the University of Alaska Anchorage, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Amber works in the marketing department at NANA Management Services. She has a daughter, Madison. Amber loves fly fishing and snowmachining.

Joseph is the son of Daniel Wolf and Dorothy Bridges. He graduated from Chugiak High School in 1996. Joseph works for CH2MHill on the corrosion-under-insulation crew. He enjoys fishing and four-wheeling.

The couple met through mutual friends. A year and a half later, on Valentine's Day, Joseph proposed in the Seven Glaciers restaurant at Alyeska.

Kathryn and Dale Tubbs

Kathryn C. and Dale P. Tubbs celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 12 with their son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren on a trip to Disneyland and at a dinner party with friends hosted by Helen and Gene Vik.

Kathryn and Dale were married Oct. 12, 1957, at St. Dennis Catholic Church in Shiocton, Wis. They lived in Waupaca, Wis. Dale was a county forester, and Kathryn was a county home agent for the University of Wisconsin. In 1962, Dale accepted a forestry position with the state of Alaska and moved to Anchorage. He worked for the Department of Natural Resources for 14 years, then was a self-employed land management consultant until retiring in 1993. Kathryn remained at home for the first 16 years of their marriage, then worked for various state agencies until retiring in 1993. Their son, Michael, was born five months after they arrived in Alaska.

They plan to stay in Anchorage to be near family and friends.

Jocelyn and Garth Fenton

Jocelyn Hastain and Garth Fenton were married Aug. 31 at O'Malley's on the Green.

They met through mutual friends during a night on the town and went snowboarding at Alyeska on their first date.

Jocelyn is the daughter of Kirk and Linda Hastain of Anchorage. She is an East High School and University of Alaska Anchorage alumna. Jocelyn has worked as an environmental consultant in resource development for three years.

Garth is the son of Joe and Sherry Fenton of Anchorage. He is a Bartlett High and UAA alumnus. Garth has been a two-way radio technician for ProComm AK for almost four years.

The ceremony was officiated by Brother Charlie Pratt. Jessica Colosky was matron of honor, and Christina Gates was maid of honor. Amanda Kyle was bridesmaid. Matt Konig was best man, and groomsmen were Garth's brothers Taylor and Reid Fenton. Matt's son, William, was ring bearer. Guests from out of town included the bride's maternal grandparents, aunts and uncles from Dallas, Houston and Orlando, and paternal aunts and uncles from Illinois and Idaho as well as a family friend from Wimbledon, England. The bridegroom had grandparents from both sides of the family in from Washington and a friend from Colorado Springs.

Jocelyn and Garth have a Florida honeymoon planned for late January. They plan to visit Disney World and enjoy a Daytona car race and Bahamas cruise.

Christie and Matthew Lasley

Christie Ann Russey and Matthew Wayne Lasley of Anchorage were married Sept. 8 at Suzan Nightingale McKay Memorial Park.

Christie is the daughter of G. Reagan Russey and Sheau Ling Russey of Anchorage. She graduated from Service High School in 1996 and works for the family business, Charlene's Express Travel. Christie enjoys hockey, camping, traveling and playing on the computer.

Matt is the son of Donald Clark Lasley and Carol Kay Lasley of Fruitland, N.M. He grew up in the Central, north of Fairbanks. Matt was mostly home-schooled and graduated in 1993. He works at Faith Day Care and Learning Center while pursuing a teaching degree. Matt enjoys hockey, camping, writing and playing on the computer.

The couple met through hockey; both are avid fans of the Alaska Aces. They share many interests, and after nearly two years of dating, Matt proposed at a poker game staged as part of Christie's birthday celebration.

Jennifer Sorensen and Hal 'Bret' Willardson

Jennifer Roxanne Sorensen and Hal Bret Willardson will marry Dec. 28 in the Anchorage Alaska Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Jenny is the daughter of Kevin and Dina Sorensen. She graduated from Palmer High School in 2005 and is studying accounting at Brigham Young University. Jenny also studied abroad in Spain and interned as an auditor at Mikunda, Cottrell and Co. She enjoys running and cycling.

Bret is the son of Barry and Lila Willardson. He graduated from Palmer High School in 2004. Bret served a two-year mission for the Latter-day Saints church in Maceio, Brazil. He is studying physiology and developmental biology at BYU. He has played golf since age 6, was Junior Alaska State Player of the Year in 2003 and hopes to play collegiate golf next year.

Jenny and Bret have been friends since middle school and began dating in 2004. Bret proposed on Jenny's birthday. They plan to honeymoon on the Mexican Riviera. They plan to graduate from BYU in 2009, attend medical school and return to Alaska.

Erin and Christopher Warrell

Erin M. Meehan and Christopher S. Warrell were married Oct. 20 during a double-ring ceremony at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in St. Augustine, Fla.

Erin is the daughter of Linda Anthony Meehan and Peter E. Meehan. She attended Florida State University and Flagler College, graduating with honors with a degree in communications and public relations. She works in sales for All American Heating and Air Conditioning in St. Augustine.

Chris, the son of Jim and Laura Warrell of Eagle River, graduated from Chugiak High School and the Marine Mechanics Institute in Orlando. He is a marine electronics specialist with Camachee Cove Yacht Marina in St. Augustine.

After a week of prenuptial festivities in St. Augustine, the double-ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Terrence Morgan. Erin's sister, Maureen Meehan, was maid of honor, and bridesmaids were Erika Hernandez of Colorado and Jessica Masters of Florida. Jason Hulse was best man, and Jeff Lizonbee was groomsman; both are from Eagle River. The reception, hosted by the bride's parents, was at the Marsh Creek Country Club and featured cocktails poolside followed by a candlelight dinner and dancing in the club's veranda ballroom overlooking the marsh. After a Southern brunch on Sunday morning hosted by friends of the couple, Erin and Chris honeymooned in south Florida.

Leiann Taylor Williams and Richard Williams

Leiann Taylor and Richard Dale Williams were married Oct. 27 in Las Vegas. They were introduced by their special friend Judy. They began dating on Leiann's birthday. Richard proposed during a spring vacation in Las Vegas.

Leiann is the daughter of Barbara Taylor of Haifa, Israel, and Richard and Irene Taylor of Anchorage. She graduated from Service High School in 1984. Leiann works for the accounting firm Minkemann and Associates. She has a daughter, Hillari, and a son, Brendon. Leiann enjoys skiing, swimming, movies and traveling.

Richard is the son of Donna McCartney and Bill Parkhill of Anchorage and Lloyd Williams of Denver. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1983. Richard works for Marita Sea and Ski. He has a daughter, Marquel, and a son, Zachary. Richard enjoys golfing, movies, traveling and family time.

The ceremony was at Graceland Chapel; the officiant was dressed like Elvis Presley. Chris Tew walked the bride down the aisle wearing a Denver Broncos tie in her honor. Gina Bastian was the "ring chick." Guests were the bridegroom's mother, father and stepfather as well as Jeanne Harvey of Anchorage and Judy Misbach of Redlands, Calif. "Elvis" performed songs afterward. The reception was at the Rio resort.

The couple honeymooned in Las Vegas.

Meaghan and Christopher Rothermel

Meaghan Wright-Barton and Christopher Rothermel were married Oct. 27 at Seven Sisters in Valley of Fire National Park in Nevada. They met through mutual friends in August 2006.

Meaghan is the daughter of Don and Wendy Wright of Anchorage. She graduated from Service High School in 1999 and from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in history. Meaghan is a substitute teacher in the Anchorage School District and is pursuing an associate's degree in computer information and office systems at UAA. She enjoys snowboarding, hiking, camping, scrapbooking, reading and cooking.

Chris is the son of Lee Rothermel and Judy Rothermel, both of Medford, N.J. He graduated from Burlington County Vo-Tech High School in 1991 and from Quaker City Institute of Aviation in Philadelphia in 1997. Chris moved to Anchorage in 1999 for a job in aviation maintenance. He is a full-time technician for the Alaska Air National Guard at Kulis base. Chris has a daughter, Ashley. He enjoys snowboarding, hockey, hiking, camping and home remodeling.

The sunset ceremony was attended by their families and relatives from Alaska, New Jersey and Canada. The bride was given in marriage by her father, and Chris' daughter was flower girl. A limousine carried them back to Las Vegas for a dinner reception at The Tillerman restaurant.

Meaghan and Chris are planning a tropical honeymoon for their first anniversary.

Jennifer Kjerstad and Stephen Robertson

Jennifer Kjerstad and Stephen Robertson will marry July 5 in Big Lake.

Jennifer is the daughter of Larry and Susan Sebastian-Russell. She earned a bachelor's degree in biological sciences from the University of Alaska Anchorage. Jennifer works for her family's business, KLS Fine Homes.

Stephen, the son of Sid and Terri Robertson, graduated from Houston High School. He obtained a degree from UAA and is an emergency medical technician, firefighter and rescue technician for the Big Lake Fire Department.

The couple met through affiliations at Church on the Rock.
